Run Claude Code from your phone: queue a task, come back to a PR
No SSH apps, no terminal on a six-inch screen. Queue a scoped task to a cloud run from your phone, answer the agent's question from a notification, and review the pull request when you're back at a real screen.
2 min readYou're away from your desk, you remember the bug, and you want the fix underway before you're back. The usual answer is to SSH into a tmux session from your phone and drive a terminal with your thumbs. It's possible and it's miserable.
The terminal was never the point. The task was. Skip the terminal.
What a phone is good for
From a phone you need four things, and none of them is a shell.
- Pick a task that's already well defined.
- Send it to a machine that isn't your laptop.
- Get pinged if the agent needs a decision.
- Review the result later, somewhere with a real screen.
That is the loop cloud runs implement, and every step of it works from a phone browser.
- The plan is already there. Tasks with acceptance criteria, written when you had a keyboard and your full attention. From your phone you're not writing a prompt. You're tapping Run on a task that's ready.
- The VM does the work. A fresh machine starts with your repo, the plan, and your connected agent. Claude Code runs on your own account, with no markup.
- The run streams back. Status, logs, and the agent's comments land on the board. Glance at it the way you'd glance at a delivery tracker.
- Questions come to you. If the agent hits something ambiguous, "should this endpoint be paginated?", it flags the task and pauses. You reply on the task from the couch and the run resumes. There is no session to keep alive and no connection to babysit.
- It ends in a pull request. Work lands on its own branch. You review the diff on GitHub when you're ready. Nothing merges without you.

The catch
This only works because the task was scoped before you left. A phone is a bad place to write a spec and a good place to pull a trigger. The setup happens once, with a keyboard: scope the project, connect GitHub, connect your agent. After that, starting real work from a parking lot takes about ten seconds.
That's the whole trick. Do the thinking when you're sharp, and the dispatching wherever you are.
